Outpost 6030 Skulls – X-wing: Battle for Anomaly 37

Hidden away in the Outer Rim, Anomaly 37 has drawn the attention of many. Scout’s have reported finds of rare ores of Stygium – found in volatile pyrophoric form around some of the larger asteroids and planetoids of Anomoly 37. While large scale processing of ore of this type would require resources neither side would want to commit in the region, the resources cannot be allowed to fall into the hands of the enemy, as a huge tapped source of Stygium could give rise to a fleet of cloaked ships.

The nature of Anomaly 37 is such that fleets of capital ships cannot be committed to much of the combat to follow – it will be up to the brave pilots of starfighter command and entrepreneurial mercenaries to secure the Anomaly.

X-Wing players; we have an explosive day of fun in store for you. Utilising Fantasy Flight Game’s rules for X-Wing Escalation Tournaments, we plan on having an event that provides an interesting list building challenge, with players bringing linked flight roster lists of varying points. Results from each game will further both individuals progress, as well as the faction to which they are assigned.

General Details

– The tournament will be run on Saturday the 29th of April, with registration opening at 9.00am.
– The event is to be held at the South Perth Community Hall, Como, corner of South Tce and Sandgate St.
– This event is to be capped at 20 participants, with a reserve list.

The day is to planned to progress as follows:

9.45 Setup 10 minutes for 1st Game
9.55 1st Game with maximum time of 50 minutes
10.45 15 minute break
11.00 Announcements and Setup 10 minutes
11.10 2nd Game with maximum time of 70 minutes
12.20 Lunch
1.20 Announcements and Setup 10 minutes
1.30 3rd Game with maximum time of 90 minutes
3.00 15 minute break
3.15 Announcements and Setup 15 minutes
3.30 Last Game with maximum time of 120 minutes
5.30 TO to complete leader ladder
5.45 Final Announcements and Presentations

Note: I expect some of these elements will run a bit faster, particularly how quickly the last round will go, but I’ve scheduled so the time is available.

Rules

The current online FFG content will support this event; the newest revision of support material (Core Rules, Escalation Tournament rules and FAQ) available for over a week before list submission will be used. ie Support Information current as of Saturday 8th of April will be used for this event. If there is any question in the lead up, I will clarify.

You will be assigned to either the Rebel or Imperial cause before the day – all this entails is that your score will be utilised to generate the ‘team score’ as well – your individual score will not be affected by team performance. Essentially, if you play Rebels or Empire, unless the teams are wildly different in numbers, you can assume you will be playing for your faction. Scum will be contracted as appropriate to try and balance sides as best as possible (thanks to you, ‘entrepreneurs’).

Note on Byes – there will be none (the rules for Byes in the Escalation Tournament Rules are sloppy). A ringer will be available if we have an odd number of participants. The ringer will play as a normal player. If someone is late to the tournament, they will receive scores of 0 (Tournament Points and MOV) for the rounds missed.

All ships appropriate for use in Escalation Tournaments (ie non-epic ships) available in WA retail stores prior to list submission are valid for use in the tournament. No proxy cards or ship tiles.

If you are found to be playing proxies (cards or ships tiles) on the day, or have a incomplete damage deck, you will be able to continue to play, but you will have your final MOV score set to 0 (zero) and you will be ineligible for individual awards.

List Submission

Given I need to validate 4 times as many interdependent lists as there will be participants in the tournament, I will require list submission of all four lists by midnight Saturday 15th of April; after this I must start issuing warrants to Bounty Hunters to find missing lists.

The award and prize structure for the tournament is dependent on paid tickets ie Confirmed cleared payments in advance enlarge the prize pool.

– A medallion for each member of the wining team, plus a range of ‘Outpost 6030’ house rule upgrade cards to commemorate and reward the Battle of Anomaly 37.

Cost

A ticket for this exciting event is $30.

An Outpost 6030 membership will discount this cost by $5.

If you are attending either Outpost 6030’s Malifaux, Horus Heresy (30k) or Kings of War tournaments on Sunday 30th of April you may discount both tickets by a further $2.50 ($5 off total cost).
