1. Why is the club called Outpost 6030?
Outpost 6030 was founded way back in 2001 by Dave Capon up at Mindarie, the post code of which is 6030. Given the relatively remote location, it was decided that they’d call their club an ‘Outpost’ and hence, Outpost 6030 was born.
2. What’s with the logo?
Despite initial, gun-like similarities, the logo is actually made up of a wooden ‘outpost’ on one side and a concrete one on the other.
3. Alright, enough with the history lesson. Where can I go to play?
Outpost 6030 is at the South Perth Community Centre, Corner of South Terrace and Sandgate St, South Perth.
We are open from around 7:30pm till 10:45pm most Tuesday nights, see the other posts in this forum for the dates in each calendar year.
Entry for each night is $4 for members and $7 for non-members, although first-time attendees can come and play games for free. The entry fee is also waived for people who aren’t playing games.
To become a member, the cost is $35 for the entire financial year, although this will decrease based on how far into the financial year we are.
5. What are the benefits of being a member?
Well apart from cheaper entry fees:
- 10% discount off all merchandise at Tactics in Perth (Located at the London Court Basement in the CBD)
- Discounts for entry to all Outpost 6030 tournaments and events
- Discounts at selected events run by other wargaming clubs (these are arranged between clubs before-hand, so we can’t be too specific here).
6. What games can I play at Outpost?
Any miniatures-based game!
Our members play a hugely diverse number of games including:
- Warhammer 40k and 30k
- Star Wars X-Wing and Armada
- Kings of War
- Warmachine & Hordes
- Bolt Action
- Age of Sigmar
We have a vast collection of terrain, mainly 28mm scale but with some terrain that suits games like Flames of War, Epic and Battle Fleet Gothic. We have terrain that suits futuristic, fantasy and modern settings.
We also have a large collection of gaming mats for fantasy, sci-fi and historical games, as well as a great range of space mats for starship games.
We regularly run leagues, campaigns and one or multi-night tournaments. We’ve recently run slow grow leagues for Bolt Action, Warhammer 30k, Malifaux, and have been running a multi-night X-Wing event.
Outpost 6030 also hosts tournaments, with the largest being the multi-format Skulls events in March and November, where tournaments for different systems are run over the course of a weekend.
7. How can I make sure I have an opponent to play against before turning up on the club night?
You can either approach one of the members in person at one of the preceding club nights (don’t worry, most of them don’t bite), post on Facebook or email the club via email@example.com.
8. Does it matter if my miniatures aren’t painted?
Not at all. While having a fully painted army is pretty sweet, we do not and never will restrict anybody from playing without painted miniatures.
9. I’m hungry.
Well it’s a good thing we sell snacks and canned drinks at the club nights, isn’t it?
We also hold a raffle each evening. Though usually for miniatures that you can’t eat.
10. I’m under 16. Can I come to the club nights?
Unfortunately the terms of our insurance company means that we cannot have individuals under the age of 16 attending the club nights without parental supervision. So if you’re under age and you’d like to come, you’ll need to convince one of your parents to accompany you.
11. I have more questions!
Well if you do, then you could ask your questions by commenting on this blog, or you could email the committee at firstname.lastname@example.org
